Pigeon Wars

As you may know, we have been at war with our local pigeon population for many years and for the most part the pigeons have been winning. Over the years it is estimated that we have spent over $10,000 installing spikes, which now are a huge negative visual impact and unfortunately have not been as effective as we had hoped. Often we will spend several hundred dollars to install spikes in an area, and the pigeons will just move a few feet away.  We have had meetings with several pest control concerns and no one has been able to come up with a comprehensive solution.

We are trying a couple of new tactics. In a coordinated effort we are having our paint crew apply bird-deterrent gel along the areas of the roof where it seems the pigeons like to congregate and roost. At the same time one of our residents has volunteered to harass the pigeons with a drone on a daily basis. It is hoped that over time the flock will come to regard our location as unfriendly and it will reduce the incidence of bird droppings and noise we have been plagued with for years. Early indications are that this may be somewhat effective.

If you have any questions or concerns about these activities please feel free to contact Lindsay Management.
